how to repair a water damaged ping pong table?

I have a stiga ping pong table in my basement. Which is placed right under my Ac coolant pipe. So from time to time wen we would use the Ac for a while condensed water would fall on the table, and one day too much water fell at a spot where the table now has a bump. So if th ball hits that particular spot it would go somewhere else. Is thee anyway to fix that bump without discarding my table because its not ridiculously big . But enough to be noticed

About the only solution is to remove the damaged board and replace it with a similar size piece of plywood from your local home repair store. You could probably easily make these repairs for under $20. It might be a little more if you want it green. Hope this helps. Dave

Attaching hinges to a ping pong table?

I about to start making a ping pong table but i forgot to messure 1 thing the thickness of the ping pong table, and im guessing its like 6mm and 6mm screws wouldn’t work with my hinges as there much bigger but i cant get smaller ones because i ve worked out the weight and everything and the stress on the hinge so i need that one but how am i suppose to put it on. and oh my god how am i suppose to screw the legs on! ?
im adding trestle's not legs sorry

Add a frame. Make the frame around the outer edge of the table top using 1/2″ or larger wood stock. Glue it to the table along the outer edge and clamp each piece every 8-12 inches (shorter is better) while the glue sets. Make your trestles shorter than the full table width so they fit inside the frame. Your table will be more sturdy and this will only add 1-2 inches to the width of the table when folded up.

What is the best brand of ping pong paddle? Is it better to buy the rubbers yourself or the paddle premade?

There are many good brands out there. Just like anything else, you definately get what you pay for. I would say that the european manufactuers and japanese manufacturers would give you the most consistency, especially when dealing with there more high end ITTF approved paddles. I bought my first ITTF approved paddle from Hi-qua sports. They have an online store which can be found through the following Url

http://www.hiquasports.com

If your just starting out and are looking for ITTF appoved paddle I highly recommend to check out there pre assembled paddle section. You can pick up a pre assembled paddle with tacky rubber and good 2.0 to 2.2 mm orange speed sponge for $20 to $30. They also have pre assembled paddles that sport a few plys of carbon fiber. I personnaly use a all wood ply paddle but am looking to switch to one with carbon fiber ply. The carbon fiber ply are more reactive and do a very good job transfering the energy from the ping pong ball back making it easier to drive the ball farther with less effort. A pre assembled Carbon fiber paddle at hi qua sports will run you 32.90 and this will include some super tacky ruber as well as a free carrying case. Bottom line is…you definately get what you pay for but alot of the chinese stuff out there is a alot more affordable and for the price that you would pay for a recreational paddle through a name brand like butterfly or stiga. If you shop arond and check out some of the chinese equipment. You can for the same price pick up something you can play very competetively with and is ITTF approved.
