There are two sides to a paddle, one red and one black. This is because the opponent should be able to tell what side you are using because some types of rubbers have more grip and some have more bounce than others.

I want to know how I can make one of my sides greasy or slick or something that would allow me to return a spin with much control.

I know what you are trying to do. I'm good a ping pong and i play it regularly. What you want, is not something greasy or slick, because that would allow for LESS control over a spin. Most Chinese players, (like myself) use a paddle that is extra sticky on one side. There is a spray that I use to keep it sticky, maybe it can turn yours sticky? I'm not sure what it is called, but if you go into a big sporting goods store and asked about it, I'm sure you'd find something.

Use the polished side to dissipate a spin and the grip side to impart a spin. So, yea, I guess you have one side for defending and the other for attacking. It's not so much the color as the texture of the surface that is important.

I am looking for a ping pong paddle that is $40 or under but fits my style of play. I slam the ball a lot and do a lot of positioning. I use little spin. I hit the ball pretty fast too.

I would actually recommend your "bread and butter" ping pong paddle for the smash method. Find a heavy paddle with rubber bumps as the paddle material. It's better for smashing and doesn't give much spin.

I want to sterylize a ping pong paddle(dont ask why) and i was wondering if rubbing alcohol would be the best route. Anyone have a better suggestion?

Rubbing alcohol will dry the rubber. Instead, try using Lysol. Dilute and use according to the package directions. Good luck!

it would probably be cheaper to see if you could have someone like Bic do a private label for you sometimes the big paddle makers may offer the label thing as well
